We know that yoga helps the body physically with flexibility and research now show that yoga can also decrease stress, blood pressure, pain & anxiety, boost the immune system & improve mood, sleep and energy levels. Through body awareness, movement and breath you will be guided on how to bring your body, mind and spirit back into balance for overall well-being.
Having experienced cancer first-hand I understand the stresses that cancer can cause on the body as well as the mind. I will pass along the tools that I learned to increase breath and body awareness to help empower you to take part in your own healing process. Using the body's weight for resistance can help improve bone density which can be a concern for those going through cancer. Depending upon where you are in treatment I will create a program that will meet you right where you are so you can gain the most benefit from your practice. Emphasis can be placed on breath awareness which will help to bring a sense of peace and calm to the heart, body and mind.

Children's needs are different than adults. There are no expectations when working with children as it is more about allowing them to be who they are and providing them with the tools for self-regulation & self-empowerment. Through music, story-telling and interactive games, your child(ren) will explore how yoga poses can help them quiet their minds, get in touch with their feelings, calm themselves and strengthen their focus, coordination and balance. I am trained to work with children on the Autism spectrum and have found that yoga can be a huge benefit to their well being. All classes are age appropriate and can be geared towards infants as young as 6 months old for a "Parent & Me" class or all the way through teenagers. Yoga for children can be taught privately, semi-privately or in a group with friends at your home, favorite playground or park at a time that is convenient for you.
If you are returning to yoga or any type of exercise after an injury or surgery and need some extra care we can provide exactly what you need. You will be guided on cultivating body awareness by working within your own limitations to create a sense of freedom and stability. We will work towards strengthening the body as well as teaching body awareness and modifications so when you return to your exercise or group yoga class you know exactly how to take care of yourself.
